Japan Candy Box Giveaway & Review
The kind people from Blippo created a new subscription box and asked me to try it. I am also giving away one of these boxes to my readers. This new subscription box is the Japan Candy Box.
I love to try foreign candy so of course I couldn’t say no. The opinions in this post are all based on my personal taste. The Japan Candy Box is a surprise box that comes to you once a month with all kinds of Japanese candy.

I did a review for a similar box before called the J-List Snack Subscription. But the products in this Japan Candy Box are way cuter and more interesting for anime and kawaii fans.

Kabaya Fish/Frog Gummies
I wasn’t totally sure what this is because I can’t read Japanese but apparently the gummies are suppose to be the lifecycle of the frog. It has three life stages in the pack: egg, tadpole and the frog.
They smell a bit weird but the taste is just like every other gummy. The purple tadpole tastes like grape, the egg tastes like grape mixed with something which I can’t really figure out and the froggy tastes like apple.
Popin’ Cookin’ Neri Candy Land DIY Kit
Ow I love Popin’ Cookin’ so I was instantly excited when I saw this candy. It’s a candy creation set that you can use to make your own candy. This one has all kinds of molds and sprinkles so you can shape your own candy kinda like clay. And after you are done you can eat your own made candies. How cool is that? I’m gonna make a post soon to show you this kit.
Pokemon Pikachu Pretzels
Yay Pokemon themed candy, I love Pokemon. And look at that transparant packaging with the cute little Pikachu! When looking at these they kind of look like cookie and cream flavoured pocky. And after trying they actually are, they taste really good and remind me of cookies and cream poptarts.
Meiji Petit Bubblegum
These are really tiny grape flavoured bubblegum pieces. They smell AMAZING, the smell instantly reminded me of nerds, the candy of course. They have a lot of flavour and once you start eating them you want more instantly.
Puccho Mixed Fruit Chewy Candy
The texture is a bit like Fruitella but a lot softer. There are tiny little gummy’s inside with different fruit flavours which taste really good. I love it when a candy has two textures in one. It’s always a surprise which bubbles your piece contains so I think this one is really fun. It has a lot of flavour.
Marukawa Fusen Bubble Gum
This box is so tiny so it’s great to take with you in your bag. They are hard candy’s with orange flavour but after tasting it a little more I found out it actually is orange tasting bubblegum which tastes really good. This is great if you just want a little something sweet and like oranges.
Yaokin Sour Paper Candy
When I saw this I instantly knew what it was. It’s a sour kind of strip, I googled it and I can’t find the exact english translation. So I’m not sure if other countries have it to buy here in the Netherlands these types of candies are really populair. They are really sour and sometimes come in a roll-up type. This one tastes like a sour coke.
Dorayaki Japanese Hotcake
This is a really tiny Japanese Hotcake, I had this kind of cake before in a different subscription box. The taste reminds me a bit of egg cake it’s sweet but not extremely. The is something inside that looks a bit like black bean jam but that doesn’t really have a taste in my opinion. I’m not a big fan of these but they aren’t gross either.
Meij Kotsubu Chocolates
I have seen this type of candy a lot at conventions but never tried it out. This is a small box so it’s great for traveling. They are tiny strawberry chocolate hard candies and taste so so good. I love chocolate combined with fruit flavours like strawberry so this is perfect. The taste reminds me a bit of smarties, but with a bit more of a strawberry touch.
Lotte Koala March Biscuits
These are small koala shaped biscuits with chocolate inside of them. The chocolate is kinda like chocolate paste that you put on your bread. I often see these in asian stores. They are great for chocolate lovers. Since I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate paste they only get 3 stars from me but I’m sure that if you do love that then you will love this to.
